1. You can sit back and relax
With bus and train travel you don’t have to worry about figuring out the best route, or diving through a city during rush hour. You only need to bring a good book and sit back and relax. You pass on a lot of the stress of preparing for a trip and simply need to show up and let the driver do the rest.
Unlike airlines where you need to plan months in advance to get the best flight deals, with trains and busses you are able to be more flexible and book your tickets closer to your departure date.
2. It’s cheaper than driving or flying
From our experience bus and train tickets are almost always cheaper than air travel and driving yourself. With the extra baggage fees and charges that are added on to flights now, flying is getting more and more expensive.
When you drive yourself, you need to factor in the gas that it will cost to get you there, possibly renting a car, parking once you arrive where you are going and the mileage and wear and tear that you will be putting on your own car during the trip.
We’ve always found that it’s less stressful and cheaper to find a bus or train ticket to our next destination if we can!
On GoTicket you can find multiple bus schedules for your next trip.
3. No long security lines
By traveling on a bus or train, you skip the long airport lines and having to arrive hours before your flight leaves in order to pass through security. You don’t have to worry about packing only 3 oz of liquids or being one of the unlucky few that get patted down and searched, further slowing you down.
The boarding process is easier and you know your luggage will get where you are going since you most likely will watch the bus driver load your bag onto the bus.
4. Power outlets and Free WIFI
Most buses and trains offer free wifi and power outlets for you to use throughout your trip. You might be rolling your eyes because your last experience with bus WIFI was “slow”, but at least it’s available and FREE! We always bring our laptops and get work done, watch Netflix or read an ebook we brought with us on our phone.
Power outlets ensure that at the end of the trip you aren’t arriving in a new city without a phone since you can spend the trip using it as well as charging it.
5. Longer trips have pit stops
Busses need to refill their gas tank, which allows you to refill your stomachs and stretch your legs. We love short breaks to buy snacks and walk around in the midst of long trips which is just another reason we love bus and train travel!
Have you traveled by bus or train? Why do you enjoy this way of travel as an alternative to flying or driving yourself?
