My Around The World Soundtrack

November 3, 2011 by Caroline Eaton 2 Comments

We are participating in the BootsnAll 30 Days of Indie Travel project. We will be posting once each day in response to a prompt given on the BootsnAll website. Leave your comments below and also check out their website for other bloggers joining in!

Day 3: Music and travel memories often go hand in hand. A song can inspire our explorations, or it can take us back to a specific place and time. Tell us about your travel playlist and what it means to you.

My Traveling Soundtrack

You won’t hear any of these songs on the radio, but if you’ve traveled to any of these places, you’ve probably heard these songs before.

Paris, France – Bikes swooshing by me during the Tour de France

Pamplona, Spain – The pounding of hundreds of feet with the occasional hoof as everyone sprints to the ring

Oahu, Hawaii – The sound of waves crashing on the north shore

Kauai, Hawaii – Peace and quiet all around

Arenal, Costa Rica – The cacophony of hundreds of tropical birds surrounding us in the rain forest

Munich, Germany – The traditional songs sung joyously over dark beer and meatballs in the Hofbräuhaus

Cinque Terre, Italy – The friendly Italian language-often shouted-heard from everyone I encountered from the grocer to our hostel staff

Venice, Italy – The birds in St. Mark’s square flocking to tourists’ heads and arms

St. Maarten – Josh snoring after a year of wedding planning for our honeymoon

I plan on adding some great new tunes to the mix this year!

I like the slant you took on this assignment 🙂 Very clever! I found myself nodding in agreement with several of these “songs”…

[…] Roots and Wings posted a pretty rocking list of songs, but I especially loved the playlist from Traveling 9-5 – a collection of, not songs, but sounds that evoke certain places and […]
