Babymoon Photo Shoot at the Grand Lucayan

February 6, 2014 by Caroline Eaton 11 Comments

You’ve traveled with Josh and I across Southeast Asia, through the bush of Botswana and underwater in the Galapagos, and now it’s time for our next adventure, adding one more traveler to our passport!

As I mentioned, Josh and I decided to take a babymoon (a relaxing trip with just the two of us) before we are a family of three. We stayed at the Grand Lucayan for a week in the Bahamas before jumping on a week long cruise and disconnecting.

I promise this blog won’t become all baby all the time, but it will begin to transform into what it looks like to go from traveling as a couple, carefree and flexible, to a family of three, having one more person to think about and care for.

During a time when I felt my whole body expanding to sizes I never thought possible (and I’m only halfway there), Josh took me to the beaches of the Bahamas and helped me feel beautiful. I wanted to share some incredible photos he took of me while exploring Grand Bahama Island.

Love the photos! We went on a babymoon to San Francisco (we were living near DC at the time). We found out we were moving to Germany just 8 days after our son was born. I wish my blogging had documented all our travels and adventures, but we didn’t have the internet for 6 months while we were adventuring. My main tip is to wear the baby as much as possible. We went hiking with him on the Appalachian Trail a couple weeks after he was born and explored towns in Europe with him in the Ergo. We didn’t focus on nap times or creating a schedule or anything until he was about a year old – we focused on going with the flow and he napped in the Ergo. That gave us the freedom to explore and go where ever and whenever we wanted. He toured castles and European villages etc… also I learned how to nurse him while traveling in the ergo. That meant we were hiking and traveling while nursing – he nursed until 2 years old so that helped. It was awesome! I don’t know if I just got a great travel baby or what! He did 10 flights (many over 8 hours long) and 6 of those were with just me and him (ie my husband wasn’t on the flight) and he never cried or fussed – nursing is key. I bought a nice light scarf that I loved wearing and even though I didn’t focus on “covering” his head while nursing it helped make my chest area feel less exposed and most people probably didn’t notice anything. I also realized certain outfits were my “go to” travel outfits and made nursing and traveling go really well. Seriously, I was nursing him in the Ergo in customs lines and while strolling luggage through the airport. It also helps to travel light and I loved my travel boppy pillow. I could go on and on, but if you need plane tips or traveling tips and ideas for a baby just shoot me an email. So excited for you guys!
